Project Finished! Tapestry Crochet Zipper Pouch

Tapestry crochet has probably been the most challenging skill for me in crochet, but I still continue to practice, practice, practice because the end result is so worth it!

Here's the details of my latest finish:

Tapestry Crochet Zipper Pouch

Materials I used:

• Bernat Cotton-ish Yarn in Cotton Club and Cotton Ball
• Crochet Hook (I used our African Blackwood hook)
• Black fabric for lining
• Zipper
• Needle/Thread

While I didn't write down the pattern exactly, I hope that by sharing this finished project, you'll have enough inspiration to tackle it yourself.

First, I chained to the size of the pouch I wanted, joined and worked in the round, and followed my own tapestry pattern for the triangles, alternating with black and white colors. Knowing what I know now (I too, learned as I went), make your pouch size fit your zipper, not the other way around! :)

After I crocheted the pouch, I slipped stitched around both the bottom and top row to give it a more finished look. Then I seamed the bottom shut with just a whip stitch. I roughly measured my lining, by folding it over itself so I only had to machine sew up each side.

Then I hand sewed the zipper to the pouch. After the zipper was secure, I inserted my lining and hand sewed the lining to the zipper.

Pouch finished!

I'm already thinking of the colors for my next one - I have a lot of zippers to use up and (of course), plenty of yarn! 

Having an (almost) one-and-a-half year old and (insert all of life's additional stress) is always interesting. To finish a project, no matter how small, is a win and something to be acknowledged. So wrap up that last row, go get the yarn you need to finish that blanket and set a deadline! You can do it!
