About Us

Beauty in Every Grain

BQueen is a husband-and-wife workshop in Black Forest, Colorado, creating ergonomic wooden crochet hooks crowned for distinction. Each piece is made in small batches, designed to balance comfort, performance, and artistry — no mass production, no shortcuts, just honest craftsmanship.

How It Began

In 2014, Brian brought home a small wood lathe and shaped his first hook from scrap oak in our garage. That simple experiment sparked something bigger. With Makenzie’s encouragement — and a bet that a few hooks might sell — BQueen was born. From day one, we knew these weren’t just tools, but heirloom-worthy pieces worth sharing with the world.

What Sets Our Hooks Apart

Every BQueen hook is crowned with a signature top — a nod for Makenzie's love of Chess - and a reminder of the royal touch in every design. We pair these hand-turned wood handles with Clover Amour tips, known for their smooth glide and balanced shape. The result? Crochet hooks that are comfortable, efficient, and undeniably beautiful.

We never use dyes or stains. Instead, we let the natural character of the wood shine, so no two hooks are exactly alike. Each one carries its own story, written in the grain.

Our Journey

Our path hasn’t been without challenges. We’ve relocated, raised our children, and even rebuilt after losing our entire house and business in a fire. Through every season, we’ve relied on faith, grit, and grace to keep going. This is more than a business to us — it’s our livelihood, our family’s story, and our way of blessing others with something lasting.

Our Values

We believe in integrity, intention, and faith. We believe in making tools that respect both the maker and the material. We believe in class and sophistication, honor, loyalty, and relationship. And because of God's blessings and our wonderful customers, we are still able to have this business we love.

Thank You

When you choose a BQueen hook, you’re not just buying a crochet tool — you’re supporting a small, family-run workshop in the USA. Your trust in us keeps our craft alive and our family thriving.

With gratitude,
Brian & Makenzie
